GlassProtect U.
Wireless glass break detector with a microphone

Standards and certifications
GlassProtect U Jeweller · GP.S.J-000-EU. Manufacturer-listed marks; regional and installation conditions apply.
Recognise the sound of breaking glass.
GlassProtect U Jeweller uses a microphone and DualTone analysis to identify the sequence of an impact followed by shattering glass. Three sensitivity levels help adapt it to suitable glazing inside a room. It also supports an additional wired contact, with events and device status kept in the same Ajax system.

Listen for the sequence of breaking glass.
Place the microphone where it can hear the protected glazing without curtains or objects blocking the sound.

Two sounds before an alarm
DualTone checks for the low-frequency impact followed by high-frequency glass shattering within 1.5 seconds. This helps distinguish a real break from a similar isolated sound.
Detection range is 0.3–9 m with a 180° horizontal angle. The maximum depends on glass type, size and the selected sensitivity.
Check that the glass is suitable.
Film-covered glass needs another approach
This detector does not detect breaking glass covered with security, sunscreen, decorative or other films. Consider an appropriate shock detector for those surfaces.
Specifications list glass at least 400 × 400 mm, with 4 mm standard or insulated glass and 6 mm tempered glass at High sensitivity. Carry out the detection-zone test with the installed glazing.
Connect another normally closed contact.
An external detector input
An additional compatible wired NC contact can report events through GlassProtect U. Enable External Contact and test it as part of the system.
The input does not supply power to another detector. Follow the wiring instructions and provide a separate supply if that device needs one.
Power you can keep track of.

Replaceable batteries
One preinstalled CR123A battery provides up to seven years under the specified conditions. The Ajax app reports battery state and a replacement warning.
The manual’s seven-year figure uses a five-minute hub polling interval. Actual life depends on settings and use. Indoor only: −10°C to +40°C, IP50.
A secure link to your system.
Jeweller communication
Encrypted two-way communication carries commands, alarms and device status between the device and its compatible Ajax hub or assigned range extender.
Up to 1,000 m in open space. Walls, metal and other obstacles reduce usable coverage. Check signal strength at the installation position and use equipment for the same radio-frequency region.
Reach rooms beyond the direct radio link.

Plan the complete communication path
A compatible assigned range extender can connect a detector where the direct hub link is weak. Test the detector-to-extender path and the extender-to-hub path at their installed positions.
A range extender increases coverage, not the hub’s total device capacity. Ethernet on a supported extender is its connection to the hub; the detector itself stays wireless.
Protection that also watches itself.

Removal alerts
The tamper reports removal from the mounting panel. Secure the panel’s tamper fixing point and the holding screw, then test the removal event.

Connection and device status
Regular exchanges let the hub monitor the detector and report missing communication or a fault. Named events identify the device and room.
Connection-loss detection depends on the polling settings. Notifications require the configured system communication paths.

Authenticated communication
The hub authenticates the device during communication. Encryption protects exchanged commands and events against interception and spoofing.
Set up for the way the site works.

Connect
Scan the device QR code in the Ajax app, then assign a recognisable name and room. Check compatibility with the hub and any range extender before installation.
