Choose how the warning is delivered.
Sounder
An audible fire alarm device with 32 selectable tones. It has no VAD light frame.
A warning that can be heard.

Up to 100 dB at 1 m
Sounder and Sounder/VAD offer 32 tones, with level and pattern selected in Ajax apps. Sounder-equipped devices on the same fire panel synchronise their audible alarm.
100 dB is a maximum for particular tones and settings, not the level of every pattern. The manual identifies tones 1, 2, 3, 6, 7 and 13 as meeting EN 54-3. Verify audibility throughout the planned area.
Plan the light around the space.

Ceiling placement
VAD and Sounder/VAD use a red frame flashing at 0.5 Hz: 90 ms on and 1,910 ms off. Ajax specifies the C-3-8 coverage arrangement for ceiling installation.
Ajax recommends mounting up to 3 m on a ceiling. Check the exact coverage specification, room geometry and visibility as part of the fire design.

Wall placement
The wall arrangement offers an alternative when ceiling installation is unsuitable. Ajax specifies W-2.4-8.2 coverage for wall installation.
Ajax recommends mounting up to 2.4 m on a wall. Sounder-only models do not provide this visual alarm function.
A supervised link to the fire panel.
Jeweller, built in
Two-way Jeweller radio carries commands, alarms and device states to the compatible fire panel. Encryption, authentication and frequency hopping protect the link without a separate radio module.
Up to 1,700 m is an open-space figure. Walls and the installation layout reduce usable range. EN54 Fire ReX can extend the route; survey each link at its final position. Alarm delivery and connection-loss timing depend on the system and its settings.
Replace the batteries. Keep the device.

Four replaceable CR123A batteries
All three alarm types use four pre-installed batteries. Ajax states up to five years with the standard 36-second polling interval; actual life depends on alarm use, settings and conditions.
Low-battery notifications prompt service. The compartment opens without dismantling the enclosure; replace the batteries with the specified type and correct polarity, then test the alarm. The mounting lock may require its release tool.
Make service needs visible.
Connection, mounting and battery status
The fire panel and Ajax apps report device faults, low batteries, tamper events and loss of the radio connection. Room, zone and location details help the service team find the affected device.
Connection-loss detection depends on Jeweller settings. Ajax specifies alarm delivery in as little as three seconds; this is distinct from fault detection. Verify the configured fire response on site.
Mount, configure and test.

Assign it to the fire system
Scan the QR code in Ajax apps and assign the device to the room and fire zone. Use a clear location description and configure the required alarm response.
Requires a compatible Ajax fire CIE and matching regional radio version. This is an alarm output, not a standalone fire detector.
