Two ways to detect an intrusion.
CombiProtect U Jeweller combines movement detection with a microphone that recognises breaking glass. It helps protect a room against both an intruder moving inside and an entry through a broken window. Sensor sensitivity and device tests can be managed in the Ajax app, so the detector can be adjusted to its surroundings.

How movement becomes an alarm.
The sensor, lens and signal analysis work together. Placement and configuration turn those capabilities into reliable coverage of your room.
PIR sensor
A person moving across the room changes the infrared pattern seen by the sensor. CombiProtect U detects this movement at up to 12 m, while its software evaluates whether the signal matches a threat.
The detector uses an Excelitas PIR sensor. Ajax checks every detector during production; the result at your property also depends on a clear field of view and correct positioning.
Recognise the sound of breaking glass.
Two sounds. One confirmed event.
The electret microphone listens for an impact followed by the high-frequency sound of shattering. DualTone requires both sounds within 1.5 seconds before the glass-break channel raises an alarm.
Detection reaches up to 9 m. Three sensitivity levels can be selected in the Ajax app, independently of the motion sensor, so the installer can tune the acoustic channel for the room.
Ready for years of everyday protection.
A preinstalled battery
The detector can operate for up to five years without a power cable. Ajax checks the batteries used in production, and the app reports when a replacement is needed.
Battery life depends on settings, use and temperature. Keep access for servicing when choosing the mounting position.
Operating temperature: −10 °C to +40 °C. The five-year figure is an upper limit, not a fixed replacement interval.
A secure link to your system.
Jeweller communication
The detector exchanges alarms and status with a compatible hub or range extender over Jeweller. Two-way communication supports both event reporting and remote configuration.

Plan around walls and distance
A signal test at the installation point shows whether the hub can communicate reliably with the detector. Thick walls, metal partitions and separate buildings may call for a compatible range extender.
Some range extenders can use Ethernet for their link to the hub. The appropriate model, hub compatibility and number of extenders must be checked for the actual system. An extender is an optional device, not part of this detector.
Know that protection is working.
Connection checks and tamper alerts
The hub receives regular updates on the detector’s condition, including communication, power and tamper state. Ajax apps show its status and report faults, helping an installer identify a device that needs attention.
Clear device and room names make alerts easier to understand. Alarm monitoring by a security company is a separate service that must be arranged for the system.
Protection that also watches itself.
Removal alerts
The tamper switch reports when the detector is detached from its mounting panel. The holding screw helps keep the enclosure secured to SmartBracket.
Authenticated communication
The hub checks the detector’s identity during communication. Encryption protects the transmitted data, while authentication helps reject a device attempting to impersonate it.
Connection and device status
Regular exchanges let the hub monitor the detector and report a fault or lost connection. Notifications identify the affected device and room so the problem can be investigated.
Connection-loss timing depends on the configured polling settings.
A careful installation makes the difference.
