MotionCam U (PhOD) Jeweller combines indoor motion detection and HDR photo verification. In addition to alarm pictures, it supports authorised requests and configured photo scenarios, schedules and security-mode changes. Privacy settings determine who can request or view images within the shared Ajax system.

When motion raises an alarm
The armed detector takes a series of photos when its motion detection triggers an alarm.
Keep photo access under your control.
Permissions and an event record
Configure who may request and view photos, and when requests are allowed. Requested photos are associated with the initiating user in the event log. Review these permissions with the people using the property.
Photo requests are not a live video stream. Photo-by-alarm access and on-demand access have separate rules; enable only the functions needed for this installation.
Useful detail in light and shade.
HDR and infrared illumination
HDR combines different exposures to retain detail in bright and dark parts of the scene. Infrared illumination supports photos in low light.
Select 160 × 120, 320 × 240 or 640 × 480 px. The two lower resolutions allow 1–5 photos per series; 640 × 480 allows 1–3. Specified delivery is up to 7, 9 or 20 seconds respectively, under the stated conditions.
Detect movement across the protected room.
PIR sensing up to 12 m
The PIR sensor and Fresnel lens observe movement across an 88.5° horizontal detection area. Choose from three sensitivity levels in the Ajax app.
Install at 2.4 m with the likely intrusion path crossing the detection zone. This indoor detector is not designed for outdoor mounting.
Filter thermal interference.
SmartDetect analysis
The detector analyses the thermal pattern’s size, speed and intensity to distinguish an intrusion from common disturbances.
Fit the detector for the room and its pets.
Up to 20 kg and 50 cm tall
Correct placement at 2.4 m and suitable sensitivity help avoid alarms from normal pet movement within these limits.
Climbing furniture or moving close to the lens can defeat the intended separation. Test the actual room after installation.

Replaceable batteries
Two preinstalled CR123A batteries provide up to four years with Photo on demand disabled, or up to three years with it enabled. The app shows charge status and warns when replacement is needed.
Indoor use only: −10°C to +40°C, IP50 and IK04. Photo activity, image resolution, polling and signal quality affect operating life.
A secure link for events and photos.
Jeweller and Wings
Jeweller carries alarms, status and configuration; Wings carries photo verification. Both use encrypted two-way communication with a compatible Ajax hub or assigned ReX 2.
Up to 1,700 m in open space. Obstacles, radio conditions, resolution and the hub’s internet connection affect delivery.
Reach rooms beyond the direct radio link.
Plan the complete communication path
Use a compatible ReX 2 for both detector events and photo delivery. The original ReX does not carry MotionCam photos. Test the detector-to-extender path and the extender-to-hub path at their installed positions.
A range extender increases coverage, not the hub’s total device capacity. Ethernet on a supported extender is its connection to the hub; the detector itself stays wireless.
Protection that also watches itself.
Removal alerts
The tamper reports removal from the mounting panel. Secure the panel’s tamper fixing point and the holding screw, then test the removal event.
Connection and device status
Regular exchanges let the hub monitor the detector and report missing communication or a fault. Named events identify the device and room.
Connection-loss detection depends on the polling settings. Notifications require the configured system communication paths.
Authenticated communication
The hub authenticates the device during communication. Encryption protects exchanged commands and events against interception and spoofing.
