Wireless reed-switch opening detector

Standards and certifications
Superior DoorProtect Jeweller · DP.S.J. Manufacturer-listed marks; regional and installation conditions apply.
Know when the entrance opens.
Superior DoorProtect Jeweller monitors a door or window using a wireless detector and one magnet. Two reed switches and a choice of magnet sizes help the installer fit the actual frame. Opening events reach a compatible Ajax hub without a signal cable to the detector, while a separate normally closed contact can be connected nearby. A replaceable battery powers the device.

Know what changed at the entrance.

One magnet, either side
Two reed switches allow the magnet to sit on either side of the detector. When the magnet moves away, the contact changes state and the system receives an opening event.
Use one magnet on one side only. Two magnets installed at the same time can prevent correct opening detection. Contact-chatter filtering ignores brief vibrations lasting up to 0.15 seconds.
Fit the real door or window.
Choose the magnet for the mounting plane
Use the small magnet for perpendicular mounting planes with a gap up to 1 cm, or the large magnet on the same plane with a gap up to 2 cm. Check the manual’s movement-direction distances.
Both sizes are included so the installer can choose one. They are not meant to be installed together.
Place the sensor for its purpose
For opening detection, the usual arrangement is detector on the fixed frame and magnet on the moving part.
Indoor use only, −10 to +40 °C and up to 75% humidity. Check radio reception near metal and mirrors; keep at least 1 m from the hub or range extender.
Include a nearby wired contact.
A nearby normally closed contact
Connect a supported wired NC detector no more than 1 m from this device, enable the external input in the app, and test its events.
The opening detector does not power the additional device. Supply any required power separately; do not increase the connecting cable beyond the specified length.
Hear an entrance while the system is disarmed.

Chime through an Ajax siren
A compatible Ajax siren can give a short sound when the door opens while the system is disarmed. Choose the sound and volume in the app, and use different patterns for different entrances.
Chime requires an Ajax siren, purchased separately. The opening detector does not contain a doorbell speaker.
Check the radio generation as well as the model.
A secure wireless link
Jeweller carries alarms, events and commands between the detector and a compatible hub. The stated open-space range is up to 1,200 m; walls, metalwork, interference and the chosen hub affect the installation.
Basic operation requires a supported hub with OS Malevich 2.16 or later. Check the radio region and exact hub model before specifying the device.
Enhanced radio protection has specific requirements
Ajax specifies Superior Jeweller for units produced from October 2026 onward with detector firmware 6.66.1.7 or later, paired with a hub that supports the protocol. Verify the supplied unit’s production date and firmware.
Do not assume existing stock has these capabilities or can receive them through an update. Enhanced frequency hopping requires every wireless device in the system to use Superior Jeweller; a regular Jeweller device disables enhanced hopping while encryption remains.
Plan for years of operation and timely replacement.

Up to 7 years on one CR123A
A pre-installed replaceable lithium battery powers the detector. Low-battery notifications let the owner arrange replacement before the device stops operating. Test the device again after battery service.
The manual’s seven-year example uses 10 openings/closings per day and 60-second polling. It gives two years at a 12-second polling interval. Faster supervision therefore changes the battery plan.
Protection that also checks itself.

Notice removal
Tamper supervision reports attempts to detach the device from its mounting panel or surface. Secure the panel and holding screws so the tamper can operate correctly.

Detect interference
The system monitors radio interference and can report jamming. Enhanced frequency hopping requires compatible Superior Jeweller equipment throughout the system; device authentication also helps reject a substituted device.

Detect a lost link
Regular exchanges supervise connected equipment. The 36-second communication-loss example uses a 12-second polling interval and three missed packets.
The detection time changes with the configured polling interval and missed-packet threshold. Verify the settings with the installer and monitoring provider.
Mount it, connect it and test the entrance.

Secure the detector and magnet
Use SmartBracket and the specified fasteners, including the tamper fixing point and holding screws. Align the chosen magnet and test the opening after final fixing.
Adhesive tape is for temporary positioning. Use the exact manual’s fastening procedure before relying on tamper protection.

Communication
- Superior Jeweller data transfer protocol
- For units produced from October 2026 with firmware 6.66.1.7 or later and a hub supporting Superior Jeweller. Proprietary wireless communication technology to transmit commands, alarms, and events. Key features: Two-way communication. Advanced sabotage protection. Enhanced block encryption featuring a dynamic key. Instant notifications. Remote control and configuration in Ajax apps. Superior Jeweller is available for devices with the 6.66.1.7 firmware version or later.
- Frequency bands
- For units produced from October 2026 with firmware 6.66.1.7 or later and a hub supporting Superior Jeweller. 865.0–868.0 MHz 868.0–868.6 MHz 868.7–869.2 MHz 869.4–869.65 MHz For devices with the firmware version 6.66.1.7 or later. Devices with previous firmware versions operate only on the 868.0–868.6 MHz frequency band.
- Maximum effective radiated power (ERP)
- up to 20 mW Automatic power control to reduce power consumption and noise interference.
- Radio signal modulation
- GFSK
- Radio signal range

- Encrypted communication
- For units produced from October 2026 with firmware 6.66.1.7 or later and a hub supporting Superior Jeweller. All stored and transmitted data is protected with advanced encryption, ensuring both confidentiality and integrity.
- Frequency hopping
- For units produced from October 2026 with firmware 6.66.1.7 or later and a hub supporting Superior Jeweller. Radio communication uses frequency hopping to prevent interception and jamming. Enhanced hopping requires every wireless device to use Superior Jeweller; a regular Jeweller device disables enhanced hopping.
